Week 9 - who needs matching shoes

******** I wrote this on 8/26, but didn't have internet access in Avila beach..sorry for the delay...week 10 is also on the way!******

ok. Being a dad has thrown Andy off when it comes to putting on his shoes! It first happened when we went to Charlie's 1 month appointment. We were in the Dr. office and I looked down and noticed that Andy had on his house slippers. I thought "well, maybe that is the style now?". Not the case, Andy just didn't get a sec to change his shoes while we prepared to leave for the Dr. office. Here we are in week 9 thinking that we have it together and that we have the hang of parenting. Well, Andy and I were at a BBQ on Saturday and Andy managed to have on 2 different pair of sandals...HA!!! Too funny!

Charlie is now 2 months old at 22 inches and 12 pounds 3 oz. The Doctor said that we might just have a colicky baby on our hands. I suppose it is payback from my hours of screaming crying at my mommy and daddy. However, his fussiness is subsiding a little and his smiles are priceless! He is even sleeping pretty regularly for about 5-6 hours at night. All in all....life is good for little baby Charlie ..aka big baby Charlie:)

Charlie met his nanny last week. Her name is Mirian and we are so excited to have found such a sweet nanny. Marian will be taking care of both Charlie and Amelie and will switch back and forth between the 2 houses. The pics below were taking during week 8.
Charlie and I meet Marian

Andy and Martin (Amelie's dad) cheers to diapers.com! Dinner conversion sure does change when you have kids.

Amelie and Charlie both needed some extra attention during dinner.

Charlie and I went to the local library again this week. One thing you have to love about San Francisco is all the different folks! There are moms, dad, grandpas and nannys and kiddos of all different walks of life. I think the man in the middle might be the ghost of Jerry Garcia :)
Charlie slept through the whole session (see him in the bottom left of the pic!
Here is Charlie (again sleeping) with his friends Amelie (and mom Ilexa who we are sharing the nanny with) and Maddison (withher mom who is a friend of Ilexa's). Afterwards both Maddison and Charlie got their 1st libary cards!

Our friend Jerome graduated from the Police Academy this week and his wife Jenny had a surprise graduation party for him on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and we had a lots of fun. Andy even got to play a game of football with the guys.
Big smile! Oh...he is just 2 cute!

Well, we are currently in Avila Beach again accompanying Andy on a business trip. More on that next week!

Week 8 - First Smiles

Charlie started really hamming it up this week. Everyday after his morning feeding he just smiles and smiles. So cute! He is also getting the hang of sleeping and getting in a good 6 hours each night - yay! He is still pretty fussy during the evening, but we are getting better and better at soothing him...the latest trick was standing with him in the bathroom with the shower running.

We met some new friends this week. I was looking for a family in the neighborhood to share a nanny with and met Ilexa and Martin and their daughter Amelie. Amelie is just a couple of weeks older than Charlie and they live only about 3 blocks away. Charlie and I went to the library with Amelie and Ilexa for sing/song hour for kids. It was adorable! I'll get some pictures next week to post.

Smiling really big!

Just a little half smile :)

I took Charlie down to San Carlos this week to meet daddy for lunch with his co-workers and to visit Tesla (my work). It was kinda crazy to go back after being away from 8 weeks. Charlie was excited to meet all his new friends. Here he is with Don, Nick, Colette and Lisa.

On Sunday night during Charlie's fussy period I decided to try putting him in this warm snuggly outfit and put him in the stroller for a ride...it worked! He loves the little bear outfit that his Aunt Meagan got him and he looks so dang cute in it.

I decided to try out the bear outfit while he was sleeping to see if it might make him nap a little longer during the day...he was asleep for 4 hours!

Charlie normally SCREAMS while he is getting his diaper changed, but this week he started to kinda enjoy laying on the changing table...sweet little baby Charlie.

Week 7 - Superman!

OK. I promise that I am telling the truth .... drum roll please................ LBC ROLLED OVER! I put him down to play on his tummy and the next thing I know he rolled over to his back. Maybe it was a fluke, but he did it!!! We have the strongest baby alive. Of course I've tried to catch it on tape, but he hasn't done it since.

Week 7 was a tough one. I think I was just worn out from the weekend, and so we just took it easy. Everyone says that Charlie's getty chubby and I like to call him "chub wub". He is starting to smile a little more, but also does a lot more crying which is only soothed by his bouncy chair. Seriously this baby LOVES his bouncy chair. I need to put some WD40 on it because it is even starting to squeak we have bounced it so much!

He also likes to play on his lion playground so I took a couple of videos...enjoy!

Charlie's first "stooping" session in front of our house. Here he is with his Mom, and neighbors Missy, Michael, and Kevin.
Getting some sun in his sweet Calirornia tank top. He's been hitting the gym, just look at those biceps and forearms.

Week 6 lake tahoe

On our way back from tahoe...will update on Monday!

Sorry about the delay :) Charlie had us busy last week. As you can see from the pic below...we were both a bit tuckered out! Don't worry, we aren't sleeping in bed with him. Andy just caught me resting my eyes for like 2 seconds after a feeding :)

Andy's friend from college Tim Coxin got married in Tahoe last weekend so the Lyon family had a little mini vacation. Charlie loves being in the car as long as we are moving and screams when we are stopped and unlucky for us we hit traffic on the way there..yikes! After we got through the traffic, things were smooth sailing. We stayed in the Village at Squaw Valley and it was a beautiful weekend.

Andy and Charlie on our balcony...ahhhhh fresh air.

We arrived on Friday night and had planned for Andy to bike ride at North Star on Saturday morning and attend the wedding on Saturday evening and return on Sunday morning. However, once we got to the hotel and got our cute welcome package from the bride and groom we realized that the wedding was on Sunday! Lets just say our minds have been occupied with baby for the past month and we didn't pay attention to the details. No biggie though...Andy got to bike ride a little later and I took advantage of the nice bath tub in our condo! Saturday evening Tim's parents had a party at the bar that was literally down stairs from our condo. Sqaw is a very family oriented place so perfect for us, we put Charlie in the stroller and had a great time! He even sported his UT shirt (yes, I even put it on him since Tim and Andy both went to UT, I thought it was appropriate) and was the most popular person at the party.

The wedding was beautiful and Charlie and I got to see bits and pieces of the ceremony, but we mostly strolled around outside. It was pretty sunny outside so we did what any good parents would have...doesn't he look cool!

Rachel is Jewish so the wedding had all the Jewish traditions...very cool. Here are Tim and Rachel on the dance floor!

Charlie loved dancin with mama...it put him right to sleep.

Week 5 - 1st Road Trip and Baby Yoga

Charlie got his one month visit with his new pediatrician Dr. Joe. Everything checked out ok. Charlie got another vaccine shot and handled it like any tough Lyon would. He is a "well nourished" baby weighing in at 10 lbs. 5 oz! Not missing many meals around here.

Charlie took his first overnight road trip. Nicole wasn't quite ready to handle a night alone (not to mention fighting of a cold) so we piled up in the care and went with Dad on a business trip to San Luis Obispo and Visalia in southern California staying overnight in a hotel. Riding in the car must have been so soothing to him because he slept about 99% of the time. Only woke up at stop signs, in traffic, and at the end of the trip. He was born with wheels on his butt, just like his Marme and his Granny!

Mom got a gift card for an Apple iPhone for her birthday, but hasn't been able to cash in on it for a while do to the long lines at the stores. We finally found a shorter line at one store near our house and headed over to get the phone. Charlie was a trooper and slept in line while we waited.

The Tudors came to visit this weekend and Charlie got some good snuggling time with Elizabeth. While the boys were out bike riding and partaking in beers, Elizabeth and I did plenty of catching up! She is so cute with her little preggers belly :) Charlie was having a bit of an upset stomach so Elizabeth showed us some baby Yoga. Charlie loved it! I even pulled out this trick today when he had a bit of a crying spell and it really works.

After a long week daddy and Charlie enjoy a relaxing Sunday. awww...too cute!

Week 4 - Hello World!

This week Charlie is a little more alert and discovering the world around him. He still likes to be held and cuddled and bounced around (daddy has a move called the California earthquake), but he also enjoys some playtime on his own and just stares at his toys and listens to the music. He also seems to do a lot of grunting...babies just make the craziest noises.

OK. Maybe I over did it just a little and could have over stimulated him with too many toys, but he really liked it and stared it all the toys for like 15 minutes...enough time for me to fix my lunch and eat!

Stacey is back from China and in San Francisco for a week before going back to Chicago. Quite a natural at holding and soothing LBC.

We celebrated my 31st birthday on Wednesday by ordering some food from one of our favorite Italian restaurants, Tomasso's. I got some beautiful flowers from Andy and from Marme as well as a really pretty cake that looks like a present ( in the middle of the table).

My best birthday present of all...sweet little baby Charlie!

Charlie likes to sit in is bouncy chair while we eat.

Well, he likes it most of the time, but needed a little attention from his daddy while I enjoyed a nice glass of wine for my birthday!

A couple of glasses of wine later called for bottle time : ) Luckily Charlie doesn't have a preference and enjoys mama's milk either way...he sucks down the bottle in no time!

Thanks Andy and LBC for an awesome birthday! I'm one lucky gal.

Week 3 - smiling and thumb sucking

Wow! We can't believe that it has been 3 weeks. Gram and Kate were here most of the week, but left on Friday morning. My first day solo went great! We had quite a bit of late evening crying on Friday and Saturday, but have no fear..it is quiet in the Lyon household this evening! I'm so scared of colic....mainly because I was a colic baby - sorry mama!

It was aunt Meagan's birthday on Wednesday so Charlie sent her a couple of notes...very creative for only a 3 week old : )

My friend Lisa took a break from tending to her 2 boys, ages 3 and 1 to come and visit baby Charlie. You can't see it in this pic, but he is wearing a cute outfit that Lisa got him that says "tough guy" on the front. Very appropriate for our little tough guy.

Gram was holding Charlie during dinner and looked down and realized that Charlie finally found his little thumb to suck on...how cute. He hasn't done it since...always just sticks his fist in his mouth.

Daddy was at work so mommy decided to dress Charlie in his Aggie outfit. Gig 'em Aggies : ) I think he wants to study Computer Engineering at Texas A&M just like his mom. At least that is what he told me.

Sweet LBC...smiling for me : )
